Ferney 27 [auguste 1773]
Et in Arcadia ego —
He was dead, and j am a dying, and what is worse j, am a Suffering, but my torments are allay’d by yr arcadian musik.
Tale tuum carmen nobis divine poeta
quale quïes fessïs in gramine, quale per æstum,
dulcis aquæ saliente sitim restinguere rivo.
My stormy life at last sinks to a calm. Come death now when it will j meet it smiling.
Dear sr enjoy the happiness you deserve.
