[…] But Lucullus emerged, alert and vindictive, to contest the dispositions made by Pompeius in the East. […] They were a noted commercial family, trading with the East (for Granii at Delos see BCH XXXI (1907), 443 f; XXXVI (1912), 41 f.). […] It was probably at this point that Dolabella, without awaiting the end of his consulate, set out for the East to secure the province of Syria.
