She was adored above all at Argos, where her feasts were celebrated by the sacrifice of a hundred bulls. […] She even ridiculed the worship which was paid to Latona, observing, that she had a better claim to altars and sacrifices than the mother of Apollo. […] They did not even sing Pæans in honour of Apollo, or observe any of the solemnities usual at other sacrifices. […] Yet deign, white queen of beauty, thy fair eyes On our souls’ sacrifice.” […] They were sometimes reckoned among the Gods, and had a temple at Corinth, where worship and sacrifices were solemnly offered.
