She was partly deprived of speech by Juno, being allowed only to reply to questions. […] The goddess Juno hated him from his birth, and sent two serpents to kill him, but though only eight months old he strangled them. […] A daughter of Neptune, who fled from Priapus, and only escaped from him by being transformed into a lotus-plant. […] It is said that he was the only mortal who married an immortal.
