13. (1832) A catechism of mythology

They were overcome, and the pupils of Apollo punished them by pulling off their wings, of which they made crowns. […] They were, however, overcome, and all cut off by Jupiter’s thunderbolts, Apollo’s arrows, and the arms of the other gods. […] By the help of these arms, he cut off the head of Medusa. […] He was again commanded to fight the Solymi, and was exposed to a variety of dangers; but he always came off victorious. […] They burnt off their right breast, in order to brandish weapons with more force, and to shoot arrows with more effect.
